Real Story of Mission Raniganj Coalfield Collapse
The Mahabhir Colliery in Raniganj a small town in West Bengal, India, had a major mining accident, it is called as Raniganj Coalfield collapse, It happened on April 10, 1989.
Many miners were trapped and thought to be dead as a result of the collapse, which resulted in the devastating loss of life.
There were reportedly about ninety miners underground when the collapse occurred, and because of the enormous damage the fall produced, rescuers had a difficult time getting to and freeing the trapped miners.

Mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill gained notoriety for his daring rescue effort that saved the lives of sixty-five miners in 1989 when a coal mine collapsed in Raniganj, West Bengal.
Gill, who was born in November 1939 in Sathiala, Amritsar, finished school at the Khalsa School.
He continued on to the Indian School of Mines in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, where he earned a BSc (Honours) degree.
In 1973, Gill began working for Coal India Limited, and in 1998, he retired as chief engineer.
